"Ben McCulloch Rangers Company Infantry (Orleans).  Captain William F. McLean, relieved temporarily; F. M. Imboden.  Organized May 19, 1861, in New Orleans.  Ordered to Virginia and assigned to duty in the Kanawha Valley.  Assigned as 2nd Company A, 59th Virginia Infantry Regiment, on August 1 and officially recognized as such in May, 1862."
