Thunder in the Valley

Jackson’s Shenandoah Campaign,

May-June 1862

6th, 7th, 8th Regiments Infantry

 

The participation of Acadian units in Stonewall Jackson’s famous Valley Campaign:  the 6th, 7th, and 8th Regiments Infantry, the heart and soul of Richard Taylor’s incomparable Louisiana Brigade.   Note the contrast in Taylor’s and Bud Robertson’s views of Jackson’s affection for Taylor’s Louisianans.  Were they Jackson’s favorite assault troops, as Taylor asserts, or, as Bud Robertson seems to insist, did the Stonewall Brigade remain Jackson’s favorite shock troops?
