Anecdotes and profiles of those Acadians in Gray who gave the last full measure of devotion to the Confederate cause.  Here could be told the unusual story of the Aucoin boys of Assumption Parish who served, and died, in Company B of the 1st Regiment Heavy Artillery.  Is there a greater instance as this of death by disease in one family belonging to one unit? At least nine of them succumbed to disease near Vicksburg in the fall and winter of 1862-63—all from the same company!
