A postwar photograph of Austin Lacombe of the 6th Louisiana Infantry, who is sitting on the front porch of the hotel in Opelousas that he owned for many years. Says a descendant, "It had been a landmark there until the late '50s or early '60s across from the courthouse. The Planters Bank building sits where the hotel was located."
